Through the e-KYC process, it will be ensured that ration is distributed only to eligible beneficiaries and no eligible person is deprived of the benefits of the scheme.
According to the new rules, biometric authentication will now be mandatory before receiving ration. Under this process, the beneficiary will have to get his fingerprints or iris scanned, which will confirm his identity. This step has been taken to bring transparency in the ration distribution system and reduce fraud. With this new rule, only the beneficiaries will get the benefit of the scheme.
According to the new rules related to ration card, it will be mandatory for all ration card holders to link their Aadhar card and mobile number with the ration card. Changes have also been made in the food distribution system under the new rules. For example, earlier 2 kg of wheat was given per person, which has now been increased to 2.5 kg. Similarly, Antyodaya ration card holders earlier used to get 14 kg of wheat and 30 kg of rice, which has now been increased to 17 kg of wheat and 18 kg of rice.
